Home Sweet Home, Stitched by Donna Granger

Donna Granger is a founding member of CyberStitchers. She says that she enjoys being a member of the chapter because CyberStitchers is her stitching community.  The chapter gives her a place to share her stitching, and offers her opportunities to take classes and learn new techniques.  Her favorite technique is counted thread, but she has been exploring hardanger, stumpwork, needlepainting, and other surface work lately.
She has been working on a project entitled “Home Sweet Home” from the book Home Sweet Home: An Embroidered Workbox by Carolyn Pearce.
Donna says, “I found the book quite well done. There are lots of beautiful (and helpful) pictures and most steps are well explained. I did not buy any of the many, many special threads that were used in the model. I just found stuff from my stash that I thought would work. I did need to have my stitch dictionary handy though. There is a stitch dictionary included at the back of the book but it did not cover some of the stitches used. Doing the 'smalls' first has made me more confident to tackle the larger side pieces. I bought precut mat pieces from Janie Hubble Designs in Australia because of my poor cutting skills.”

Thanks, Donna, for the beautiful stitching inspiration!
