About UsWhat is CyberStitchers?CyberStitchers is the only online chapter of The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc. We were chartered in March of 2000, so we are a very new chapter. We currently have over 200 members. We are a full-fledged EGA chapter, and members are entitled to all benefits of EGA and chapter membership. How do we meet?We hold our meetings by electronic mail every other month beginning on the second Thursday. We have several mailing lists, including a chat list. We hold online classes, give out door prizes, do group correspondence courses, and have education events, free projects and handouts. In general, we do everything a local chapter does except serve cookies and punch during the meetings. What do we do?CyberStitchers conducts several programs for members, including correspondence courses, Stitch-A-Month, and Petite Projects, as well as the President's Challenge and periodic exchanges of threads, holiday gifts, unfinished objects (someone's trash is another's treasure), and other items. The chapter is always working to provide more activities and benefits for members. Do I need to be a member of EGA?Yes, you need to be a member of CyberStitchers and EGA. We meet the needs of embroiderers who want to belong to EGA but who cannot attend local meetings as well as those who enjoy being a part of an international group of stitchers. You can visit for two meetings (four months) to try us out; go to our Guest Invitation page or contact Karen for information. Can I belong to my local chapter and CyberStitchers?Yes, some of our members also belong to a face-to-face (F2F) EGA chapter. In CyberStitchers they enjoy correspondence courses, Petite Projects and other EGA activities that their local chapter doesn't have available. Membership in more than one chapter is called plural membership. What if I'm not sure I want to be a member? You can attend two meetings as a guest. You will receive a digest version of the emails from the meeting, so you can get a real taste of what goes on. To visit a meeting as a guest, please go to our Guest Invitation page or contact Karen. Why can't guests see or participate in certain things?Due to copyright and license restrictions, certain projects such as Stitch of the Month and Petite Projects are only available to members. However, there are some pictures of finished projects available on the Petite Projects and SAM pages. How much is membership? For plural membership, the dues are $16 per year. For primary members, the dues are $45 per year: that's $29 for EGA National dues, $3 for Tennessee Valley Region dues, and $13 for chapter dues. There's more information on dues including payment methods on the page Joining. Dues include a subscription to Needle Arts Magazine and membership in the Tennessee Valley Region of EGA. If you live outside the U.S., there is a surcharge for postage.
